Lapataganj

Spent Diwali evening at home for the first time in years…needless to say, entry of thinking mode:|

The lights – Kitna lights!!I mean, every house was shining so bright, I'm sure we could’ve been seen from outer space! Made me think about(ok I know it's a typical thought, still, here goes)...our country and how there are innumerable towns and villages who don't have bijli at all.

And we complain about load shedding :|

It sort of makes me relate to these promos doing the rounds…of a new show on SAB TV…it’s called Lapataganj. It’s kinda caught my fancy…makes me want to look forward to it somehow.
It intrigued me enough to look it up a bit…and here’s what I found out…:P

First off, it’s a satire, on our country. One very good reason why I know I’d love to watch…hehe. It’s the stories of a well known hindi satirist Sharad Joshi. His style of satire will make you laugh yet almost immediately relate to the bitter truth of the typical Indian society.

M gonna try my best to catch it on the channel from 26th oct, 10 pm :)

Sounds promising…nuu age Malgudi days…n we all know how much we loved that!!

Check it out ok?

Train Tales 2

This one’s a story of a very very irresponsible woman.

She gets in from VT, screeching, even though it’s the starting point.

Scrapped. Too bored to write about a train again. Sheesh. Talk about being capricious :P

I’m going to update just for the sake of updating this time. Again. Sole purpose being to get me in the habit of keying in something or the other every few days. Quality can come in at later stages. :-| I hope it eventually does manage to come in though.

The point is that life is so dry right now; I can’t seem to find interesting things to blog about. See, Shaun’s life is so interesting, meeting random pretty girls in hotel lobbies, takin long walks by the sea…so what if he’s discussing Axe! Atleast kuch to ho raha hai!!

I for one never wanted to fit into a routine…unfortunately, I have now. My life currently revolves around 9:12 and 8:53. To think I used to laugh and make fun of such people. Getting into the same train everyday, coming back by the same one, so fixed is their routine that they have a fixed seat in the local, know who sits next to them, know the whole family history of that person and of many more around, know the beggars, vendors who frequent that local….sheeesh…lame life. For me at least. I thank my stars I haven’t reached that level yet… and I hope I never do…

That’s it for now I think. Don’t want to write too much crap.yes.there is such a thing as too much crap.

Cheers!
Ciao

FYI…the story I scrapped was about the woman who pushed and pulled and got into the train. But. She left her kids behind. She realized her kids weren’t around 2 stations down the line.:|

Train Tales 1

I’ve decided I really really needed to blog or I’m going to forget how to write! At least in my style. No kaat-foot for me...no editing nothing! Whatever flows through the first draft is going to be published :P
At least this time :D

Dearth of topics to write about…so imma gonna write about “Yucky Train People”

Everybody has met or encountered this breed of women. The ladies second class of a local train is always full of them. The male species, unfortunately must’ve either only heard of them or most probably heard them…even from the last dabba of the local.(high frequency shrieks are a more than regular feature)

This incident is not a fight. But more of a sweet revenge incident pour moi. So here goes-

Yesterday evening. Thursday, 27th August’09.(not yesterday evening any more...considering how much I've delayed this post.:|

I board the train from Wadala. So it’s 9.00 pm and extremely crowded, and to top it all, it’s a Panvel local.

Enter stinky salwar kameez “babe”, talking on the phone, from GTB(or Chunabhatti)not too sure..(shaeh short term memory). She’s talking on the phone, her “Flip-top phone” in god knows what dialect of English with I’m assuming, her boyfriend.

Now , poor and tired me is standing at the door cuz there’s no place to move in and I need some fresh air. Fresh air I got alright. Sweaty-stinky Babe stands right in front of me…hanging from the door…one hand with plastic cover dangling right on my face, the other hand outside with “flip-top” cellfone talking to Jaanu.

Adding to my woes, she leans on the sliding door and gets a bit of my skin fasaoed in it. I shout and ask her to move ahead- Jaanu is apparently more important. All I get after I push her ahead(not jhagdaalu aunty style, but desperate-to-get-hand-out-of-stuck-train-door style)is a curt “sorry ha”, as if it was all my fault.

Ok. Let’s face it. I can’t fight. I just make my displeasure very evident using unsuccessful facial expressions. But my sweet revenge arrives!! In the avatar of the shrieking train women who charge into the train at Kurla :D

“Stinky train babe” is abused and pushed into the dark corners of the stuffed local and there she remains, till she finally manages to get off at vashi from the other side..Woohoo!! I got sweeet revenge without having to do anything at all for it! I did NOT fight, did not create one either, but I got the stupid girl to pay for troubling me and not caring about it…:P

So much for updating my blog after a really long time. I would like to thank “someone” for making me feel desperate enough to do it. But I think it’s good in a way…at least main update toh karta rahega! See you soon bloggie…my updates are gonna be way more often than u think right now:D

Cheers:P

PS: More stupid done to death Train Tales coming up. Will start posting better stuff(hopefully)as soon as I get in the groove again and find interesting things to write about.

A year in the life of a Ruiaite

June
College reopens. Mutual feeling of rejoice and looking forward to Vishnu’s chai early in the morning. (got a grin on my face just writing about it!)

July
You start thinking, I repeat, “thinking” about the prospect of attending lectures. Halfway through July you finally succeed in landing your ass on the last bench of your class. (Whew! All Set!)

August
If you’re a Fresher, this is the month that you face information overload. (Read. Rose Day? whatzat?(secretly lookin forward to it;)), protocol?, security?, INFRAstructure?? Yeh kya??, Publicity?...hmm…I wonder if anyone will have me. Lectures forgotten, interviews galore!

Seasoned Ruiaite? We’re looking forward to Rose Day, that’s it, just looking forward, nothing else. The year’s just about to begin…:P

September
Rose day arrives. Half of September is spent anticipating Rose Day, buying Rose Cards for our “dear” seniors and trying to find out who’s doing “the jhol” to be Rose King and Queen; the other half is spent cribbing about how pathetically sad rose day was even though we’ve enjoyed most of it.

October
One would generally find people rushing into the reading hall (which is swwankyyy btw;)) at 10:30 to catch the best seats to sit on, sleep on, and try to do a lil bit of studies on)…and…one would also find people being very very vocal in cribbing about the fact that Vishnu isn’t allowed to set his tapri up there.

November
Now November is a little tricky. Interviews for the Utsav and Aarohan teams are held keeping Diwali in mind(it’s usually held before diwali so students have a “valid” reason to come to college in the holidays as well. ”Mumma, fest ki tayyaari!lotsa work to do”*smug*). So, November is just spent wondering which team to get into again(for the poor freshers who didn’t make it into any during Rose day…*snigger snigger, Loser:P*)…more teams to choose from!! There’s PA, FA, LA blah bleh da blee da blah.

December!
Now that’s the best part of the year for ANY Ruia ka bachha. College Day, Traditional Day, Sublime Sounds, Sari and Tie day, Sports day, UTSAV and the newest addition, Aarohan! And if you’re bored in Ruia in December, Dude! you’re as lame as anyone can get!

January
Aah! thanda season for the average Ruiaite. One tends to find us lazing around the naka, quadrangle, Vishnu saying it’s high time we got a “break” from everything.(everything matlab so much kaam ha.)

February
Enter Exam fever yet again. Same old story. Won’t bother re-elaborating. (10.30.Must find good seat etc.etc)

March
The time of the year when you really shouldn’t be around Ruia. Sad faces, grim expressions, blank stares, an occasional sigh, one or two whacked in the head merrymakers. Exams do that to you sometimes.

April and May
I’m combining the two cuz they’re both almost the same. Beginning of April is spent sitting at Vishnu making elaborate plans to go on road trips, treks, international holidays, the works!; baaki ka 1 ½ months? Aadhe bachhe on family vacations to “native place” and the rest maarofying short trips to hanging garden, essel world, kharghar hill(don’t gimme that look! boredom does that to you...*sniff*doesn’t want to think about it. Go away!!)

And here I rest our tale. Cheers!
